THE TONGUE AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE KISS TONGUE TO TONGUE…
You might not understand the meaning of kissing «tongue to tongue,» but it’s similar to eating oatmeal.

Sharing saliva and exchanging breaths together is a strong bond that must be well managed.

Kissing is an act that has existed for thousands of years, and it is not a behavior exclusive to humans, as mammals and animals have shown similar behaviors.

Kissing definitely carries many benefits, and it is probably the reason why Mother Nature granted this gift to us humans…

Let’s take a look at some of the many reasons why people kiss:

  1. KISSING FOR HAPPINESS:
Kissing is a way for two people to show their love for each other, and it can also be between relatives or close friends…

When we kiss, the body produces endorphins or happiness hormones, leaving both parties in a loving relationship feeling warm, fuzzy, happy, and carefree… Additionally, kissing can reduce the body’s cortisol levels, making it a miraculous remedy for stress…

  1. KISSING TO EXCITE AND SATISFY:
Another hormone that cannot go unmentioned is dopamine, as this hormone is associated with the brain’s reward system… Dopamine is produced when we find something we like, such as a great meal, so when we kiss someone we like, dopamine is responsible for making us feel happy, content, and excited… Also, research has found that dopamine levels gradually increase until reaching a sexual climax, before gradually fading away to be replaced by prolactin, which serves to extinguish our sensual fire.

(Prolactin is more common in females due to its role in milk production, and it has been found that during breastfeeding, women’s sexual desire is severely limited. In males, the hormone works alongside other sex hormones to help sperm production.)

  1. KISSING FOR A STRONGER BOND:
It has been discovered that when couples kiss, gently intertwining their tongues, there is an increase in oxytocin production, which is a hormone associated with building bonds with someone special to us… This hormone is also commonly useful to the body in other ways, such as facilitating the breastfeeding process and helping mothers give birth more easily…
  2. KISSING TO BURN CALORIES:
Kissing mainly involves the use of the orbicularis oris muscle group that surrounds the mouth, along with 33 other muscle groups used while kissing.

Kissing also triggers at least 5 pairs of nerves, including the olfactory nerve (used for smelling); the trigeminal nerve (triggered by touches in the mouth, tongue, cheeks, chin, and jaw); the facial nerve (used to control facial muscles like the lips); the glossopharyngeal and vagus nerves (responsible for voice control); and the hypoglossal nerve (which controls the tongue)… With so much involved, it has been found that kissing for one minute can burn up to 26 calories… (To ensure both parties are ready to kiss for any length of time, make sure to take care of your oral health.)

  1. KISSING TO EXERT:
Although it is certainly true that kissing stimulates nerve endings and helps produce the various happiness hormones mentioned earlier, one of the most talked-about results of kissing is the transmission of testosterone from men to women, or from men to other men… This is because testosterone is a type of hormone found in males in large amounts, as it is the main hormone involved with growth, cell repair, and increased libido, meaning it is the most common hormone found in the blood. French kisses are, therefore, a great way to awaken both parties, and for better results in this regard, kisses should be accompanied by hugs and other forms of body contact…

Although kissing has numerous benefits, if one of the parties is not in good health, kissing could put them at risk of contracting various health disorders, such as the common cold, hepatitis B, herpes, and warts…

Therefore, avoid kissing if you suffer from any of these conditions to maintain the health and safety of your loved ones.
